What's it like to be a Commercial Manager?
Commercial Managers manage a business’ relationship with commercial clients. Their aim is to increase sales, and therefore revenue, through acquiring new commercial clients and satisfying the business needs of existing ones. Commercial Managers work in a range of industries, including transport, logistics, media and finance. They must have a good understanding of the particular industry they are working in, as well as solid financial knowledge and skills. Being organised and a good communicator is also beneficial.

- Forecasting budget requirements for the short, medium and long term.
- Negotiating, advising and securing information around pricing for commercial contracts.

How to become a Commercial Manager
Commercial Managers usually have a bachelor degree in business or a related field, as well as industry experience.
Complete a bachelor degree in business, finance, management or a field related to your industry, such as marketing.
Gain relevant work experience. Commercial Manager is not an entry-level job—it’s a managerial role—so you’re expected to have a few years of relevant work experience. Focus on development opportunities that enhance your communication, leadership and financial skills.
