What's it like to be a Doctor?
A Doctor diagnoses, treats, and helps prevent diseases and injuries in patients. They examine patients, prescribe medications, perform and interpret diagnostic tests, and offer advice on preventative health care. Doctors can be general practitioners or specialists, such as cardiologists, dermatologists, or pediatricians.
Tasks and duties
- Examining patients to diagnose and treat health conditions and diseases.
- Prescribing and administering treatments, therapies, medications, vaccinations, and other specialised medical care.
- Interpreting diagnostic tests and explaining the results to patients.
- Advising patients about diet, hygiene, and preventative health care.
- Referring patients to medical specialists when necessary.
- Keeping records and documentation of patient health information, including medical history and examination results.
