What's it like to be an Engineering Lead?
An Engineering Lead is responsible for overseeing a team of engineers in the development and implementation of various projects within an organisation. This role involves both technical and managerial duties, such as drafting blueprints, making sure all designs meet legal guidelines and safety requirements, and providing guidance and mentorship to other engineers in their team. An Engineering Lead may design and inspect projects, manage annual budgets and maintain equipment. Engineering Leads typically work in sectors like software, civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering depending on their specialisation.
Tasks and duties
- Leading an engineering team to ensure high quality solutions are delivered on time.
- Coordinating with other departments and teams to establish project goals and deliverables.
